 1984: David Gleeson (vocals) and Grant Walmsley (guitar) start a rock band called Aspect at 
Hamilton Marist Brothers High School in Newcastle. 1987: Aspect toasts its 303rd gig with the release of a self-titled independent EP. 1988: Aspect plays on Goat Island in Sydney Harbour as part of the Australian Bicentenary celebrations. 1989: Gleeson and Walmsley form a new group with fellow Novocastrians Paul Woseen (bass),
Richard Lara (guitar) and Brad Heaney (drums).
They play their first gig as The Love Bombs but then change their name to The Screaming Jets. 1989: The Jets win Triple J National Battle of the Bands competition and relocate to Sydney. 1990: Then INXS manager Chris Murphy signs the band to record contract with new
Australian label rooArt (through PolyGram) while flying in a Lear jet. 1991: Record debut album with Englishman Steve James (Sex Pistols, Thin Lizzy).
Both the album, All For One, and lead single, Better, reach No.2 on the national charts,
going platinum and gold respectively. Other singles include C'Mon and Shine On. 1991: First world tour, including shows in the United States with Pearl Jam,
Soundgarden and Alice In Chains. 1992: Relocate to Los Angeles, recording at Frank Zappa's legendary studio Joe's Garage. 1993: Release second album Tear Of Thought … produced by Steve James and mixed by American Micajah Ryan
(Guns N Roses) … featuring the singles Helping Hand, Shivers, Living In England, Here I Go, Think. 1993: World tour. Highlights include closing the Rock-Am-Ring Festival in Germany (Def Leppard,
Black Crowes, Robert Plant) and Gleeson guesting with INXS. 1993: Melbourne guitarist Jimi "The Human" Hocking replaces Richard Lara and drummer Craig Rosevear
fills the seat of Brad Heaney after it was warmed briefly by Dave Holland (Judas Priest). 1994: Helping Hand goes gold. 1995: Jets release self-titled third LP, also known as the "Gorilla" album, produced by Irishman Robbie Adams
(U2, Smashing Pumpkins) and mixed in New York by Kevin "Caveman" Shirley (Aerosmith, silverchair).
The launch gig at an old Sydney church is streamed straight onto the Internet. 1995: Perform on Triple J Live At The Wireless. Sad Song makes the listener-voted Hottest 100 list.
Other singles include Sacrifice and Friend Of Mine. 1996: Hocking's spot is taken by Novocastrian guitarist Ismet Osmanovic (Judge Mercy). 1996: Release fourth album World Gone Crazy (through BMG), produced by Steve James and mixed
by Kevin Shirley. Singles include October Grey, Elvis (I Remember...) and Eve Of Destruction. 1997: Play free gig for 50,000 people after Newcastle Knights won the rugby league grand final. 1998: Travel to Europe and North America for series of showcase appearances. 1999: Release fifth album, a double-disc anthology titled Hits & Pieces (through BMG). 2000: Jets recruit drummer Col Hatchman, whose band Blue was "Unearthed" by Triple J. 2000: Better voted best Australian rock song of the decade by Triple M network. 2000: Release sixth album, Scam (through Grudge, Universal Records), produced by Steve James
and Ross Wilson (Skyhooks, Daddy Cool) and mixed by Kevin Shirley. Singles include
Individuality, Shine Over Me and the current Higher With You. 2001: Announce "Forever" tour dates.
